Hunting Success Stories

Curt Sather
"The bullet performed perfectly!

Curt is a hunter from Spokane, Washington.  He shot this elk on a hunt with his wife in Montana.  He took the shot at 1334 yards.  "The shot hit him in the ribs and dropped him like a rock."

Curt shot a Remington 700 chambered in 300 Ultra Mag, with a Nightforce scope, Retumbo powder, Federal 215 primers, and Berger 30 cal 190gr Match Grade VLD Hunting bullets.

Tim Hagedorn

I love the 168gr VLDs.  I have been shooting them for years.

Tim's son shot this bull on opening day of hunting season in Mineral County, Montana.  He took the shot at 850 yards with his 7mm Remington Magnum.

He used a custom built Remington 7 Mag, built by Allbull Rifles, with Retumbo powder and Berger 7mm 168gr Match Grade VLD Hunting bullets.

Ron Wood
My Bergers worked great!

Ron shot this Bighorn in Foote Creek, Arizona.  He waited 27 years to get drawn for this hunt, so he spent much time scouting and preparing for his hunt.  "I shot the ram at 296 yards.  He traveled less than 10 yards!"

Ron shot a Remington 700 Sendero, chambered in 700 Rem Mag, with a Krieger barrel and Shilen trigger.  He used Nosler brass, Winchester primers, Reloader 19 powder, and Berger 7mm 168gr Match Grade VLD Hunting bullets.

Greg Haskett
"I will never shoot anything but a Berger again."

Greg took this antelope on a hunt with his family in southern Idaho.  He took the shot at about 250 yards with the rifle that he inherited from his late grandfather. "It wasn't the biggest buck, but for me it was as special as any trophy could be. My dad commented on the fantastic job the bullet did. But for me, it wasn't so much about the job the bullet did, but the memory it provided. I had the opportunity this year to go out with my family and harvest something with a priceless rifle. Thank you for making a great bullet to help give me this memory that I will have forever!"

Greg shot this antelope with his grandfather's .257 Roberts and Berger 25 cal 115gr Match Grade VLD Hunting bullets.

Dan Roland
"The deer folded and dropped instantly at 275 yards."

Dan shot this deer on a hunt with his father in Wyoming.  "We hunted hard for four days looking for the big one.  I shot this 4x3 at 275 yards, and he literally fell right where I hit him. What a way to top off several long, hot days of hunting!  Another great part is that my father was with me on his first Mule Deer hunt, and he shot a buck within five minutes of my shot."

Dan shot a custom 7mm Ultra Mag built on a Remington 700, with Reloader 25 powder, Federal 215 Match primers, and Berger 7mm 168gr Match Grade VLD Hunting bullets.

Victor Clark
"The buck dropped where it stood!"

Victor's father was excited to be drawn for a mule deer hunt in south-eastern Utah.  His father took the shoulder shot at 208 yards.  "Outside of a neck or spine shot, we had never witnessed such a quick clean kill in the many years we had hunted western big game together. My father and I are absolutely amazed at the performance of the 168 grain Hunting VLD bullet. We had heard the stories from others but we have now witnessed it for ourselves."

They shot a Remington Model 721, chambered in 30-06, custom fitted with a Lilja barrel.  Their load consisted of Winchester brass, IMR 4350 powder, and Berger 30 cal 168gr Match Grade VLD Hunting bullets.
